Say His Name: Cyrus Monroe Carmack-Belton
Cyrus Monroe Carmack-Belton was just 14 years old.
He was a smart, creative boy who loved doing science experiments, making art, and laughing with his brothers. In the spring of 2023, a false accusation that he shoplifted fours bottles of bottled water at a convenience store in Columbia, South Carolina changed everything. He was chased, shot in the back, and his life was tragically ended.
His death left a deep pain in his family and made the community face a hard question: How can we really keep our children safe and make sure every young life is valued?
That’s why JusticeForCyrus.org was created.
We are a growing group committed to keeping Cyrus’s name alive. We support his family as they seek justice. By educating people, taking community action, and pushing for change, we honor his memory and work to protect other young people. At the center of all we do is the strong belief that Cyrus’s life mattered—and still matters.
